About Norm

Norm Martin is Senior Claims Advisor at Royal Claims Services Ltd. He provides technical guidance across the firm’s book of property, casualty, marine and trucking claims handled under delegated authority for Lloyd’s underwriters, coaching adjusters and claims staff, reviewing files and weighing in on coverage questions so that accuracy and judgment hold from the first report to the last.

Norm joined Royal Claims in 2018 as Claims Manager, running the firm’s claims teams for six years before moving into the advisory role in 2024. Before that he was the Western Region major loss examiner at Northbridge General Insurance, handling fire, water and course-of-construction losses that ran into the tens of millions of dollars, and for twelve years the Western Region Claims Manager at Sovereign General Insurance, where his team was ranked the top claims team in British Columbia by brokers and won six national claims satisfaction awards. Earlier he managed national commercial auto and casualty claims for Zurich, adjusted property and casualty losses on the road for ING Western Union, and spent twelve years as an independent adjuster with Crawford and Company, finishing as an Executive General Property Adjuster.

Norm holds the Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP) designation and a Bachelor of Commerce from Laurentian University. He was a member of the British Columbia chapter of the Canadian Insurance Claims Managers Association from 2004 to 2016, serving as its president, and is based in British Columbia.
